“But in the watching of Sawyer and Juliet, there is this idea that it’s not the joy that we share that brings us together, but it’s our shared pain. It’s actually the connection that we as humans have to one another and what can bond us closer than anything else is that understood pain… I think they found solace with each other and a resting place. Neither have had that in their lives so they found a place to heal and be together.” - Elizabeth Mitchell
“Juliet and Sawyer was the best. It was born out of such desperation and trials. They needed love and each other in their lives - and so they found it.” - Josh Holloway
About a week before we all got on the plane, I got to talking to this man in a bar in Sydney. He was American, too. A doctor. I’ve been on some benders in my time, but this guy… he was going for an all time record. So, it turns out this has a son. His son’s a doctor, too. They had some kind of big time falling out. The guy knew it was his fault, even though his son was back in the States thinking the same damn thing. See, kids are like dogs, you knock them around enough they’ll think they did something to deserve it. Anyway, theres a pay phone in this bar…
I think both Sawyer and Juliet needed someone to believe that there was more to them than the sum of their past mistakes. They each needed someone who could look at all the terrible things they had done and still believe in the good that they possessed. Together, perhaps for the first time, they were allowed to believe in themselves and with that, find redemption and love.
“Hey.”
